About Growing Up

Reflection of The Missing Piece
After reading this short story, I think we should do things on our own as possible as we can, and be brave enough. During growing, we come across many problems, and we have to tackle these by ourselves. Nothing cannot be solved as long as we work hard and have patient on it. So in short, I feel this story is a kind of good one and tell people how to take this easy.

story & summary 2

Summary

The story I chose to read is “None of Her Business.” The story describes a lady named Pat was waiting for her bus, and she figured out that a special woman was waiting for bus as well. She was a blind woman, and nobody with her to help her. Pat was amazed about the woman and associated her to Helen Keller whom she had read in school before. But there were differences between them: Helen Keller was not only blind but also dumb and mute, while the woman was only could not see anything. And there happened one thing. A man came to the woman and asked her to go with him. As a matter of fact, the man tricked the blind woman. Fortunately, this was heard by Pat. She tried to call somebody to help the woman, but there was no one to take any action about it. Then she decided to do this on her own. Eventually Pat helped the woman and saved the woman’s life.

My reflection to this story is that we should be brave to help foreigners who need help. We should not be selfish to think that is none of our business. If so, one day we have troubles and no one wants to help us, what should we do? So in my opinion, I think we have to have passions to be glad to help others, and in that way, the world would be more wonderful.

Summary of “Changing Roles: Stay-at-Home Dads”

The article “Changing Roles: Stay-at-Home Dads” talks about the role of “Dads.” Nowadays, the society of parental roles has changed, and more and more men with marriage play an important role both in their families and job. They not only have to take care of their children at home but also have to do their job well. According to the reading, fathers today are expected to take more responsibility for child rearing than they did before. Also, some people like seeing the image of fatherhood include the role of caretaker in addition to provider. As far as I am concerned, society now regards fathers as important as mothers. It is not “men outsides, women insides” anymore. They should be viewed as equal. To sum up, fathers in raising children are more and more significant.

My Favorite Song

My favorite song is "And I Love You So", and this is an old song. When listening to the music, I feel much better. The song is sang by many people, so I do not know who the first singer is. However, the melody is so comfortable that everytime I listen to this I relieve myself and feel relaxed. As long as thinking about this song, I will associate the lyrics with my family. Theyare my everything, my treasure, and my most-care-about persons. Hence, the song gives me a kind of sweet feeling, and also moves me.

In addition, there are a lot of old songs that I love listening and singing, such as "What A Wonderful World", "Tie A Yellow Ribbon On The Old Oak Tree", "Mr. Lonely" and the like. I do not know why, but I just like that kind of melody. They are so tender, so warm, and so comfortable. I think I like old thingsmore, so, maybe that is why I love the old songs so much.

In words, I recommand "And I Love You So" to you guys, it is a beautiful song with beautiful melody. Trust me, you will fell in love with "her" at once on hearing the song.

+ About Fanny +

Leefan Chen is my name, or Fanny in English. Growing up in a rural county with marvelous scenery and natural landscapes, I am lively and tend to see things in an open-minded perspective. I must say that I am really lucky to have such a beautiful hometown.
I inherit my father's wisdom and my mother's even temper. From my father, I learn how to cope with difficulties; from my mom, I learn how to keep calm to face every situation. What's more, my parents have taught me to be polite since I was very young. They think it is what we should do as human beings. An optimist by nature, I always look on the bright side of things. No matter what situation I run into, I think about the good ways instead of bad ones. Easy-going, humorous and good-tempered, I make friends easily. Being cheerful is another my personality. I always wear a smile on my face, and I always laugh even over small things. I believe that "Laugh, and the world will laugh with you; weep, and you weep alone." And we should bring happiness to people around us. In addition, I can also bear any setback. I'm not afraid of failures. The harder the thing is, the more I want to try it. Apart from those, I take delight in playing the violin very much, which I have learned for almost 6 years. I took part in Lanyang Orchestra for 2 years, from which I learned how to cooperate with others, and that was one of my most beautiful memories.

After graduation, I would like to be a great English teacher or an outstanding translator. I sincerely hope that I can have this chance to be one of the best learners in English world.
